As an androgynous looking woman, barber shops have been a predominately hyper masculine sphere that I've been extremely uncomfortable navigating. John was incredibly kind, sociable, and gave me an excellent cut. I didn't get the standard "Why is you hair short?" or "When are you growing it out" most barbers ask me as I pay them to cut my hair. John fosters an incredibly queer friendly space with friendly conversation and a clean cut. He has a good eye for detail that doesn't end with just a hair cut. The was after so I didn't have to ride the subway home with the normal 'fresh cut' itch that just buzzed, unwashed hair gives you. I would strongly recommend him.
